A new launch date has emerged for the PS5 Pro, the more powerful version of the PlayStation 5. The console, which has been rumored to be announced at CES 2024 starting in January, is expected to officially arrive in 2024. So what does PS5 Pro promise?
PS5 Pro launch date could be the third quarter
Tom Henderson, a trusted name in the gaming industry, has revealed the details of Sony’s upcoming event at CES 2024, which kicks off on January 8. According to Henderason’s claim, a new console like the PlayStation 5 Pro will not be introduced at the event.
Henderson recently tweeted that he would be “very surprised” if a PS5 upgrade was unveiled at CES 2024. He said that announcing the PS5 Pro so early would hinder steady PS5 sales.
However, Henderson said that Sony believes the PS5 Pro launch will happen in 2024. While he didn’t give an exact date, he said it could be announced in the third quarter. Henderson said an announcement for the PlayStation 5 Pro could be made late in Q3.
Other industry insiders have also claimed that the new PS5 Pro will be official by the end of the summer. The more powerful console is internally codenamed “Trinity” and is targeted for a November release.
Sony recently said that it will focus on “empowering creativity with technology” at CES 2024, and will showcase cameras, lenses and other imaging-related products. This means we won’t see a gaming-focused product.
